Report: Broncos To Meet With Louisville OL Jamon Brown
Without hardly a single mention of a pre-draft visit about a week ago, it now appears that prospects are getting with the Broncos by the bushel.
On the list is Louisville offensive lineman Jamon Brown, a player that has mid-round prospects at this point that could be of interest to the Broncos as a potential guard/tackle swing player.
Here’s the original report from the National Football Post.
A two-time all-conference selection, Brown started every game in 2012 at the right tackle position and from 2013-14 he started every game at left tackle. He’s experienced, accomplished, and the type of steady player that could provide the Broncos with a mid-round starter.
Some scouts feel like limitations athletically (despite a 5.09 second 40 yard dash) will cause him to be a much better fit at the guard position in the NFL. The Broncos could certainly use the help on the interior offensive line where Shelley Smith is a projected starter. Brown is the type of player that can anchor, but also has good quickness. He is a wide bodied lineman with really long arms.
Some analysts right now are projecting Brown as a day three pick, and that is where he’d be a great value for the Broncos, though no one would scoff at them taking him in the third round. His weaknesses include his ability to handle speed rushers, which is another sign he might be heading to the guard position in the NFL.
Brown joins a long, long list of offensive linemen that will be of interest to John Elway and the Denver Broncos in a couple of weeks.
How would Brown fit with the Broncos?
It’s possible he could potentially be a starter early on at the guard position. He’s got all of the qualities you’d look for in an interior lineman and he also has significant experience at the tackle positions. The Broncos need help and depth at both.
This is a player that seems to have a lot of potential to succeed within the Broncos’ scheme despite not having great athletic measurables.
