The linebacker position for the Denver Broncos is one that does not need a whole lot of attention. With players like Von Miller, Brandon Marshall, and Danny Trevathan there, it is very likely if a linebacker was to be drafted they would have very limited playing time. However, it is never a bad idea to look towards the future. Perhaps Neiron Ball could be in that said future.
The Broncos are visiting with three prospects today. One of which is Florida University linebacker Neiron Ball. This is a player that has had to overcome such adversity starting from a very young age. He lost both of his parents before he turned ten years old. He has also undergone brain surgery in 2011.
Let’s take a look at what Neiron Ball can bring to a NFL team.
His arm length could be a great asset to the Denver Broncos. This is perhaps one physical trait of Neiron Ball that could work to his advantage in the pros. His arms measure in at 33 and 5/8. His speed is also something to look at with him. He has the ability to close in on the ball carrier and is quite the pass rusher when he needs to be. He also does not quit on the play, as he plays until he hears the whistle from the referee.
Neiron Ball has recently gone under micro fracture surgery, which could keep him away from most teams. The Broncos know all too well about micro fracture surgery as Quinton Carter underwent the same surgery that sidelined him for two years. The question would be if Neiron Ball could overcome that surgery and become even stronger. His coverage after the play action could use some improvement, but that is something that can be fixed over time.
Overall, Neiron Ball has had to overcome so much adversity and challenges to get to where he is today. He may not hear his name called during the draft, but could be an undrafted free agent pick up for the Broncos after the draft has ended. They have brought him in for a visit, so the Broncos could have some interest in him. Hopefully he can overcome adversity at least one more time and make a NFL roster.
