Report: Broncos Hosting Stanford OT Andrus Peat
According to a report from the Denver Post, the Broncos and their brass will host Stanford Cardinal offensive tackle Andrus Peat for a pre-draft visit.
He’s considered one of the best tackles in this year’s draft, if not the best.

Peat is ranked the top tackle in this year’s class by Dane Brugler of CBS Sports and NFL Draft Scout, and is a top 15-20 player in this draft by many different outlets.
There is a school of thought that if the Broncos would want to select Peat in this draft, they’d have to trade up from their 28th overall selection to do it. That being said, Peat has consistently been available in my Fanspeak mock draft exercises, which means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of thing but I found it interesting since he’s ranked so highly.
Peat could be the best pure offensive tackle in this year’s draft, since Iowa’s Brandon Scherff is considered more of a guard at the next level.
This marriage would make a lot of sense for the Broncos, especially with John Elway’s strong ties to Stanford. He has excellent size, play strength, and the ability to both run and pass block with great coaching coming from the Cardinal football program.
He has excellent size at 6-foot-7, 313 pounds, and 34 3/4″ arms. He’s not only excellent size for a right tackle prospect, but he plays with the strength and toughness you’d expect out of a right tackle, and though he played the left side in college, he projects well to the right side in the pros.
The interesting thing about an addition like this would be, the Broncos would probably not be able to move Peat to the inside at the guard spot, meaning last year’s third round pick Michael Schofield would have to move inside or he’d be relegated to a backup role.
Last year, Peat was a 2nd-team All-American and All-Pac 12 performer with 27 straight starts to end his college career. He is an early entrant in the draft as a junior, and last year was the first time John Elway had taken a player with his top pick that left prior to his senior year (Bradley Roby).
