Broncos Begin Offseason Workouts on Monday
Attention everyone — Denver Broncos football is back!
Well, sort of…
The Broncos (most of them) are reporting on Monday for their first scheduled offseason workouts, in which players will arrive at team facilities for some strength and conditioning work after four months off from football activities and away from facilities.
All of the players have been working out and keeping in shape on their own, but this is an exciting day for everyone to start building camaraderie.
For the Broncos, this is a really exciting time. There are a ton of new players on the roster, and Peyton Manning leads the charge for his fourth season as a Broncos quarterback (wow, that’s really weird to think about).
The Broncos aren’t going to make any determinations of the depth chart from these workouts, and most players will be all smiles as everyone returns to work this offseason in preparations for what will hopefully be a Super Bowl season for this team.
For the last couple of seasons, it has felt like the Broncos had all the pieces they needed in place to make a Super Bowl run, and this year feels a bit different. The Broncos had to go bargain shopping in free agency, and will rely on young holdovers and the draft in order to get the roster where it needs to be in order to contend.
That’s scary to a lot of people, but hopefully it’s the right strategy for the Broncos, who have not necessarily struck out in free agency in terms of getting good players, but have in terms of winning titles along with that.
On a side note, an interesting situation to monitor here today will be whether or not cornerback Aqib Talib is there and available to the media after reports he was under investigation for an assault at a Dallas night club. Apparently, the offseason can’t end soon enough for some guys…
