Broncos Announce Offseason Calendar
The Denver Broncos have announced their offseason calendar, which kicks off workouts on April 13th.
It’s time to get excited for some Broncos football, folks.
Here’s the entire schedule:
We know wide receiver and franchise player Demaryius Thomas will not be there, but pretty much everyone else will be as the Broncos return to the field and get acclimated to a new coaching staff and new teammates.
This is going to be a big offseason for a number of players, but the changing of the guard will be major in Denver. This is one of the final offseasons — perhaps the final one — that Peyton Manning will be in the building. Manning’s presence as a leader is going to be especially important this offseason with last year’s group of captains largely not present.
Other than DeMarcus Ware, Demaryius Thomas and Terrance Knighton were both captains last year and will not be in attendance this year, both for different reasons.
Phase 1 of the workout program this offseason will be pretty much strictly strength and conditioning. Players have already likely been working on getting back into football shape, but getting back to team facilities will be our first look at what guys have been doing over the last three months to see what transformations guys have made.
The Voluntary Mini-Camp right leading up to the draft will be our first look at Broncos players doing more football work on the field, including some two-a-days to get acclimated to the new offense.
Phase 2 of the offseason program still doesn’t include helmets, pads, or offense vs. defense.
Things start to get back to normal (relatively) in phase 3 of the offseason, when we actually see some equipment, all coaches on the field, and actual offense vs. defense drills.
