Broncos Sign S Darian Stewart

The signing of Darian Stewart went under the radar as far as most NFL Free Agency moves are concerned, but this was a big one for the Broncos.

Down the stretch last season, there were only a handful of safeties playing better football than Stewart, who gave Tom Brady and the Patriots all they could handle.

Like I said, this was a very underrated move and one that could pay significant dividends for the Broncos immediately. Stewart has good size and is capable of playing both free and strong safety. He is a former undrafted free agent who found a home with the Ravens last year, and showed marked signs of improvement in his coverage abilities.

This is a solid player, one you know mostly what you’re going to get, and he pairs well with T.J. Ward on the back end of the Denver secondary. He called himself the missing piece to the Broncos’ defensive backfield, and hopefully he’s right.
