Broncos Re-Sign TE Virgil Green

Originally drafted in the 7th round of the 2011 NFL Draft as a pass catching, vertical threat, Green emerged over the last couple of years as one of the Broncos’ most valuable blockers.

John Elway even went so far as to call him a ‘rock’ of the team. The Broncos made re-signing him a priority, and they got him just before the start of free agency as Green was apparently weighing an offer from the Chicago Bears and John Fox as well.

Denver didn’t let this one get away, and now he’s primed for an advanced role in the offense. With Owen Daniels, Green will be part of Kubiak’s two-tight end sets that have become so familiar through the years in this offense, and he could see a significant increase in balls thrown his way.

Green caught his first ever touchdown in the last regular season game of 2014, hopefully a sign of things to come.
