With Julius Thomas set to take his talents to Florida, the Broncos are looking to add a tight end to replace him. Who better than Owen Daniels?

Mike Klis of the Denver Post has reported that Owen Daniels is on his way to Denver tonight to meet with John Elway and the Broncos on Wednesday.

This comes as no surprise, especially when Gary Kubiak was going to be the new head coach in Denver. Owen Daniels and Gary Kubiak have a long history together with their times in Baltimore and Houston. It would be nice for Peyton Manning to have a veteran presence after the Broncos decided not to keep Julius Thomas. While I do know that Owen Daniels does not put up the same numbers as the other top tier tight ends, he can still help become that security blanket for Peyton Manning and the offense.

This would be most helpful if Virgil Green decides to come back to Denver this year. I’ve mentioned before that pairing these two players up in the two tight end offense could benefit very well. There would be a significant improvement in the passing and running game with both players lined up.

I would be very shocked if Owen Daniels left Denver without an offer. He could be a key piece to the Broncos’ new offensive scheme and still can put up good numbers in the passing game as well. While he may not be able to fit the shoes that Julius Thomas will leave behind, it won’t be the worst thing in the world for the team.

Having the veteran presence that Owen Daniels provides for the Broncos would be very ideal for a team that is looking to make one final run. It would best fit the Broncos to bring in a player that knows Gary Kubiak’s offense and can fit well without missing any steps.
