The Denver Broncos are heading into the NFL’s new year with so many questions about the team’s future it is hard to keep track of it all. Times like these cause friction in Broncos Country, as every Tom, Dick, and Harry has an opinion about what the Broncos need, or who they should target. The anxiety of the fans is unbearable at times. Tempers flare on social media, and every expert goes on the defensive.

Interestingly enough, John Elway and his team have proven over the last few years that they can win the offseason. Big free agent acquisitions have become the norm in Denver, and it seems to fuel the fan base like a drug. But just like any drug, withdrawal can be a real demon. Bronco fans may have to go through this offseason without any big victories, but that might be just fine.
Winning in the offseason is helpful when trying to win a Super Bowl, but it does not feel like much of a win if another team gets to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
There are a lot of big names out there about to hit the market. Names like Ndamukong Suh, and Bryan Bulaga are heavy on the minds of fans all over. In house free agents like Terrence Knighton, Julius Thomas and Demaryius Thomas have brought out the anger and fear of the fans. Everyone is biting their nails in the hopes of winning the offseason.
Elway and the Broncos have already won the offseason. The Broncos of 2014 were led by a coach who has become known as “Take a Knee Fox.” Not the most flattering of nicknames. Kubiak will lead this team with more aggressiveness than Fox ever could imagine. It will make the entire roster better. Big offseason upgrade. Manning is likely returning. This is a win. Even with the injuries Manning was an elite quarterback in 2014.

The Broncos have made huge strides already this offseason, and Elway has said he will ensure that Demaryius Thomas stays in Denver. This writer raised some questions about that, but it is hard to argue with a John Elway decision, and so I am going to call that a win, too.
Not every move will be a home run, and Elway may not get to keep, or sign, all the players he wants, but we should not take our eye off the prize in Broncos Country. This team has been building over the last few years, and there is a goal in mind. Winning in the offseason is helpful when trying to win a Super Bowl, but it does not feel like much of a win if another team gets to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
