Could the Broncos Move Juwan Thompson To Fullback?

The Denver Broncos are looking to find more balance in their offense in 2015 by further implimenting the running game. They want to add a fullback to the roster to help the running game. Juwan Thompson could benefit even more in that offense.

John Elway and Gary Kubiak have made it known that they would like to add a fullback to the offense this season. They have been in Indianapolis scouting the combine for a full back that could fit their scheme. However, I think that they have a running back on the roster that could make an easy transition to the fullback position.

Juwan Thompson has shown flashes of greatness during the 2015 season. He has become a bruiser as a running back and has some amazing speed. Once he broke a tackle, he could gain some valuable yards. Having him as the fullback in front of C.J. Anderson or whomever the starting running back is in 2015 would benefit in a big way.

The last time that I saw a player line up as a fullback for the Denver Broncos was when Virgil Green did so in the 2014 AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots. It has been a while since the Broncos had a fullback on the roster. In fact, Jacob Hester and Chris Gronkowski were the last fullbacks on the roster for the Broncos nearly three years ago.

Having a fullback on the roster could be a key move that could get the monkey off the Broncos’ backs. The team had Howard Griffith blocking for Terrell Davis during the Super Bowl years. Perhaps the full back position, one in which very few teams use at all anymore, could be the key piece to the Broncos getting ever farther and winning the big game.

Juwan Thompson could find some success in the fullback role, especially in short yardage and goal line situations. He could be used to either block for the running back or carry the ball himself. Juwan Thompson could benefit from moving to this position in the long run.
