Brock Osweiler has been patiently waiting for his chance to become an NFL starter. Despite his limited action since being drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2012, the team looks to prepare for his time under center.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, as well as Les Shapiro, the Denver Broncos are considering a contract extension for their quarterback not named Peyton Manning. While talks between his agent and the Broncos have not yet begun, it is interesting that the Broncos are considering this move. Brock Osweiler has one more year left on his rookie contract. If they do decide to extent him, it would show that the team is confident that he can lead the team.

Brock Osweiler saw some action last season and while it seemed that he did not fair too well while taking over for Peyton Manning in San Diego, he showed what he can do in the regular season finale against the Raiders. In fact, he had a perfect quarterback rating of 158.3 in that game. He also threw his first touchdown pass of his career in that game. It only took two years to do so.

I think it would be a smart move for the Broncos to extend him. Having him would take care of the quarterback situation for the time being. If they do not take care of Osweiler sooner rather than later, the team could be without two quarterbacks if Manning decides to hang them up in 2016.

The Broncos seem to be confident in Brock Osweiler. Most of the fans in Broncos Country feel the same way. He definitely could be the face of the franchise once Manning calls it a career. Brock Osweiler has the ability to make plays not only with his arm but with his feet too. He can hurt you throwing the ball as well as can scramble for a short third down or a goal line situation. Those are some qualities that could benefit, especially after the conservative play calls from last season.

It is only a matter of time when Brock Osweiler gets his chance to shine under center. The Denver Broncos should make a move. If they really are confident in the future with him, the team should waste no time in making sure Brock Osweiler is under contract for them.
