There are various amount of people that are thinking that Wes Welker will not be brought back by the Denver Broncos in 2015. However, the well-known slot wide out might make their job just a little bit easier.

Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports is reporting that Wes Welker’s history of head injuries and the decline of production he suffered last season has him thinking about hanging up the cleats for good after eleven seasons in the league. While it has not been made official, Wes Welker has talked to family and friends and has said to them that he is seriously considering it. However, according to Vic Lombardi, he would consider it only if other teams do not call him.

If he does decide to retire, in my opinion, it would probably be the best for him. With how so many players have suffered after their careers when they have dealt with concussions the last thing Wes Welker needs is another head injury that will be a career ending one. It could be in his best bet to avoid any further damage and walk away.

With Wes Welker set to hit the free agent market, he may not get the contract that he would hope for. Due to his injury history, production decline, and his age, another NFL team may not be willing to pay him what he could be looking for.

This could actually make his decision to retire that much easier. I am certain that Wes Welker will not be walking away for all the wrong reasons, but he also needs to worry about supporting his family and getting hurt at this stage of his career might take its toll.

Whatever it is that he decides to do, his decision must come down to life in the long run. But I honestly believe that if his history of injury is any indication, especially the last couple years, that should give him the answer right there.
