After the Denver Broncos 24-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, many started to question whether Peyton Manning would be back for a fourth season in the Mile High City.
It’s well-documented at this point that Manning turned in a dreadful divisional-round performance. While he did play on a gimpy right leg, Manning remains a big reason why the Broncos won’t be making the trip to Foxborough for the AFC championship game.
Manning’s play came under scrutiny as the season came to a close. As his touchdowns/yards steadily declined, the interceptions rose. Denver’s power run game contributed to that, but there was still clearly something off with the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
2012 second-round pick Brock Osweiler has been waiting and learning while Manning has led the Broncos. Osweiler is visibly improving with each passing season and has left many in Broncos Country to wonder if it’s time to hand the quarterbacking duties over to the third-year product out of Arizona State.
Age is a cold mistress and an athlete’s worst enemy. While “The Sheriff” has truly had some amazing seasons in Denver, is it time for him to hang up the cleats and let backup Brock Osweiler take the reins?
Let’s weigh the pros and cons of having either Manning or Osweiler in control next season.
