Brock Osweiler did something that not even Peyton Manning was able to do in the Broncos’ regular season finale.
During the Denver Broncos 47-14 win against the Oakland Raiders, Brock Osweiler was able to come into the game and, even with the game already decided, wanted to show Broncos Country what he was able to do. He saw limited action during the season in Week 10 against the same Raiders team and filled in for an injured Peyton Manning during the Week 15 contest against the San Diego Chargers. He threw his first career touchdown pass that went to Virgil Green, who caught his first touchdown pass.
During his only real drive of that game, Brock Osweiler looked really good. Both of his passes that he attempted were caught by Virgil Green and they were beautiful passes too. His first attempt looked liked a form of art. And the way he was able to scramble out of the pocket in order to find Virgil Green in the end zone shows that he has the ability to make plays on the run as well.
I have stated before the season began that Brock Osweiler has the chance to become the next Aaron Rodgers. Of course, not in the same way, but how he could fall into the same situation that Rodgers did. Learning under an experienced future Hall of Fame quarterback for a few years and then taking the reigns once the veteran sailed off into the sunset. Brock Osweiler has about maybe one more year at least left before he gets his chance. From what I saw on Sunday, he has come along really well. He threw a touchdown in a game in which Peyton Manning did not. That is a mind blowing stat from the regular season finale. If you said that Brock Osweiler would throw a touchdown pass and Peyton Manning would not before the game began, I would not believe that.
I am actually excited to see what Brock Osweiler can do when given his time to shine once Peyton Manning calls it a career. He may have to wait at least one-two years before that happens, but after Sunday’s performance, I’m pretty excited to see Brock Osweiler in the spotlight full time.
