Chris Harris Jr. Shines Once Again

Chris Harris Jr. has quietly become one of the best corner backs to play in the league this season. With all the star power in Denver like Peyton Manning, Demaryius Thomas, Demarcus Ware, and Von Miller stealing most of the spotlight, Chris Harris has quietly flown under the radar and has brought the hammer down on opposing wide receivers.

Chris Harris Jr. is the definition of his signature saying “No Fly Zone” because of what he can do in coverage and against opposing quarterbacks.

During Sunday’s win against the Buffalo Bills, Chris Harris Jr. was clearly all over the field. He did well covering the receivers (9 targets, 6 receptions, 53 yards according to Pro Football Focus), intercepting a Kyle Orton pass on a drive that looked promising for the Bills, and even recorded a sack. He finished with a plus-2.7 on the game. His interception was perhaps the signature move for the Broncos defense because it stopped what could have been a competitive game late into extending the lead for the Broncos.

Chris Harris Jr. is in his contract year, and there should be no reason why the Broncos should not sign him. He has earned it. And this is a guy coming off of ACL surgery just under one year ago. I am seriously starting to wonder where the Broncos are getting all this talent. The Broncos have defiantly found a diamond in the rough on the defensive side of the ball with Chris Harris Jr.

It will be difficult for the Broncos to give him a huge deal with Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Terrance Knighton and others in contract years as well. But with how well the Broncos defense has been playing, especially as of lately, John Elway is going to try to keep the unit together. Chris Harris Jr. is a huge key to the defensive success of the Broncos and deserves to have a new deal when the season is over. There is no doubt about it at all.
