4. Nowhere to Run, Nowhere to Hide

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick didn’t have anywhere to run to on Sunday night. He had one garbage time rush at the end that made his final total of 18 yards look okay, but the Broncos contained him all night with a perfect defensive scheme. They were willing to give up the short passes over the middle of the field in exchange for being able to keep Kaepernick in the pocket and force him to win the game from there.

He couldn’t do it.

Kaepernick’s inability to scramble around and buy time for his receivers was key to the Broncos winning this game, and they made it happen in a big way. Not only was Kaepernick not able to run, but Frank Gore managed only 20 yards rushing on the night.
