Elway and the coaching staff wouldn’t have made this move if they didn’t have faith in McManus to do the job as well or better than Prater.

McManus is unproven, just as Prater was when Denver picked him up. How has that worked out for Prater and the Broncos?

McManus has the leg, he’s younger and now he’s motivated to be the best in the NFL. This sign of faith from Denver should motivate the 23-year-old to strive to improve and work even harder.

He knows fans and some teammates will question his consistency. They will bring up Prater every time McManus misses a field goal, regardless of length. They will mention the NFL-record that Prater holds.

Time will tell if McManus can deliver. But the show of faith from the organization he serves will give him a huge boost of confidence. Not to mention he plays for a potential Super Bowl-winning team.
