Our surprise guest is not an offensive player and doesn’t need a boost in production, but makes too big of a difference when on the field to not be mentioned here.
Linebacker Danny Trevathan is expected to return to the starting lineup Sunday after missing Denver’s first three games with a knee injury.
Trevathan had a breakout sophomore season in 2013, racking almost 130 tackles, a team high, and became the Broncos top linebacker in the process.
He’s superb in pass coverage and routinely proves he’s capable of covering elite tight ends, running backs, or what have you. Trevathan sets himself apart by keeping plays in front of him and consistently closing on the ball in a hurry.
He’ll have a considerable impact on the defense, there’s no hiding that fact. With that being said, his replacement Brandon Marshall was nothing short of great in Trevathan’s absence. Going forward, expect to see more of Marshall.
With Von Miller, Nate Irving and now a healthy Trevathan leading the way, Bronco Country will finally get to see a complete Denver Bronco defense.
