The question has been on the mind of Broncos Country for three weeks.

For a change this has nothing to do with the Denver Broncos running game. This runs deeper than that.

What is wrong with Demaryius Thomas?

The speculation has been he’s injured. He’s grieving over the loss of his grandma. He’s upset he hasn’t received the contract extension he wants.

Imagine if the Broncos running game could run with the prowess of the Thomas rumors.

Denver Post sports columnist Mark Kiszla had a great column about Thomas earlier this week on this very subject. In it, Thomas said it is none of those factors; he’s just tough on himself. Too tough.

When Thomas drops passes, he feels as if he lets Peyton Manning and his team down. He feels he lets himself down.

Of course, the “professional mental doctors” on talk radio aren’t satisfied with his answer. So they keep the rumors alive so people tune into their shows.

It is that simple.

Thomas is a professional athlete who demands perfection out of himself. He plays with a quarterback who demands that as well. When you’re in a tough stretch, the world closes in on you and it can crush you. Confidence is a fragile item, and when it’s in pieces, it doesn’t take much to make it worse.

Thomas is one of the best receivers in the game. He showed that once again with his catch to tie the game at 20 against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Someone who has struggled needs that in major way. Someone who has shattered confidence needs that.

Thomas will figure it out. He’s too talented and too good not to.

But as some in Broncos Country pointed out, sometimes you just need to hear how good you are. You just need to hear that people care.

That’s where the fans come in.

Broncos Country isn’t just a phrase or place, it’s a way of life.

Send Thomas a note on Twitter or go a step further and send him a handwritten letter.

Thomas is a special athlete, but this is deeper than that. Thomas epitomizes what Broncos Country is all about.

He’s humble.

He carries himself with class.

He’s a benefit to the Broncos, community and state. He makes fans proud to cheer for the Broncos.

Thomas is in a tough stretch. We’ve all been there. When we struggle, it eats at us. We know we can do better, but for some reason it just won’t work.

For all the incredible moments and memories Thomas is responsible for, let’s do our part.

Let’s show him how much Broncos Country needs and appreciates him.

    This is the start.

DT, thank you for all you’ve done for Broncos Country. You represent what it means to put on the orange. We’re here for you and support you no matter what. By the way, that catch on Sunday was unreal. You’ll get it. Just know Broncos Country is behind you.

Let’s show Thomas what that means.
