SEPTEMBER 13th, 1987

Even though Denver won the AFC title in 1986, there were as many sellers as buyers of the Broncos being a perennial AFC power. So they started 1987 by sending a message to the rest of the league, as well as the Seattle Seahawks with a 40-17 thrashing of their one-time divisional foe. The game was close at halftime with the Broncos leading 20-17 but the orange and blue outscored the blue and green 20-0 in the second half. The 1987 season was marred by a work stoppage which claimed week 3 of the season and watched sub-par replacement players try to compete in weeks 4 and 5. However Denver had already put its stamp on the season on opening day.
