SEPTEMBER 3rd, 1995
In a game that your humble correspondent attended, the Broncos began taking the baton back from the previous beast of the AFC, the Buffalo Bills. The 22-7 victory also marked the first of a 138 regular season wins for first year head coach, Mike Shanahan. His 138 is Denver Broncos’ franchise record. It was also the first game for the Broncos’ all-time leading rusher, Super Bowl XXXII MVP, and 1998 NFL MVP, Terrell Davis. T.D. toted the rock 20 times for half of the Broncos’ 140 rushing yards on the day and scored its only touchdown. Even though Denver finished the 1995 season at 8-8, the groundwork was laid on opening day.
