It’s already Friday, the opening game for the 2014 NFL season is in the books, and someone else gets to be the team that Seattle crushed. It kind of feels good, though I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t have preferred the Seahawks to lose that first game.

As we approach gametime, I wanted to chat with a friend, legendary Broncos blogger, and one whose opinion I trust and value greatly — Mr. John “The Guru” Bena. Bena is the former lead blogger at Mile High Report, and he was kind enough to answer some questions about this weekend’s game.

1. What was your biggest takeaway from the preseason for the Broncos?

ANSWER: The most important thing might be the team navigated Training Camp and the preseason without suffering a significant injury(Danny Trevathan aside). When a team like the Broncos appear to have all the parts to make a Super Bowl run, the biggest derailment is losing a key piece early in the season. Mission Accomplished! As for what happened on the field, the offense looks to be picking up right where they left off – expect 30 points per game again in 2014. More importantly, however, is the defense looks to be dominant. DeMarcus Ware and Aqib Talib were perfect additions and bring a swagger that last season’s group was sorely missing.
