So, apparently Wes Welker is not suspended for the first game of the season…?
This is the strangest bit of news. Adam Schefter and Albert Breer were reporting just around 5PM CST that Welker had been suspended for the first four games of the season.
Now, Broncos beat reporter Mike Klis — who has been pretty dead on since his opinion that the Broncos would not pursue Peyton Manning — is saying that Welker is in line to play Sunday vs. the Colts.
At least, that that’s the Broncos’ expectation.
This is an interesting bit of news for a couple of reason. Number one, it flies in the face of reports that Welker’s been suspended. Number two, it means the Broncos are confident that Welker is going to make it through concussion protocol and be medically cleared to play by Sunday night’s game.
Also, Tuesday is now late in the week? As in, ‘not Monday’?
This is all taking a very confusing turn, but hopefully the Broncos have at least got everything straightened out. If their game plan is set, they would obviously know if it included Welker or not but Klis has a valid point in that if Welker were suspended for the first four games of the year, he would not be practicing with the team this week.
