It’s GAMEDAY. During football season, it’s that time of week that we all look forward to with zealous anticipation.
Tonight, the Denver Broncos will travel to take on the Dallas Cowboys, in what will be the 4th and final game of the preseason.
Matchup
We won’t see any starters in tonight’s game. Week 3 is typically the “dress rehearsal” for NFL first team units. And traditionally, no penciled in starter sees any action in game 4.
That means that we’re going to get a heavy dose of one Brock Osweiler. Following two consecutive games that saw him make some astounding plays and display the depth of his development, last week, he seemed to take a tiny step back.
It didn’t help that his receivers were dropping balls left and right. But tonight, I expect Osweiler to light up the Cowboys’ 2nd team defense. If he’s to be the future, and now that he’s in year 3, by all means, he should dismantle these dudes.
We’ll also get to see Zac Dysert in extended action. The question of whether or not the Broncos will choose to roster 3 QBs again, will likely be determined by Dysert’s performance tonight.
There are also some intriguing roster battles to keep an eye on tonight. Who will solidify what is likely the last safety spot? Duke Ihenacho, the veteran? Or will it be John Boyett, the dark horse (pun intended)?
Guys like Shaq Barrett and Steven Johnson are battling it out for a spot on the 53-man roster. The team is also trying to figure out who should be the 6th CB. Will it be Louis Young? Tony Carter, the “Sticky Man”, whom the coaches love? Jordan Sullen? Jerome Murphy? Tonight will answer that question.
This is the exciting part about preseason football. Seeing guys take a swing at their respective NFL dreams, with all they’ve got. Most will fail. Some will be wildly successful. Stay tuned.
KICKOFF
The game is set for tonight at AT & T Stadium; Thursday, August 28th and will kick at 6PM MST.
