Safety

T.J. Ward: B

Rahim Moore: B

Quinton Carter: B-

David Bruton: C+

Duke Ihenacho: D

Overall: C+

After the top three, the safety play was weak. Bruton is a special team’s ace that struggles on defense and he continues to show that. Duke was a fan favorite and the future at SS last year, not he is at risk of losing his spot. Ward is good against the run and as a pass rusher. Multiple times against the Texans he would blitz and it took the offense by surprise. Moore looks like he can play a centerfield type role in this defense, similar to that which Earl Thomas plays in Seattle. Against the Texans, the defense had that look often. Moore excelled in it. Carter looked rusty out there against the Texans, which is surprising with the amount of reps he has gotten in the other preseason games.
