Aug 23, 2014; Denver, CO, USA; Houston Texans running back Alfred Blue (44) drives against Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall (54) and outside linebacker Nate Irving (56) as center Ben Jones (60) falls to the turf in the second quarter at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Weakside Linebacker

Brandon Marshall: B

Corey Nelson: C+

Overall: B-

With Danny Trevathan out, Brandon Marshall has been thrust into the starting spot and the green dot on his helmet. Marshall has stepped in for Trevathan with good play. He does not seem to have the same intensity or leadership mindset that Trevathan does. Anyways, his play has been excellent. He has been really good in coverage, and keeps the play in front of him. Against the Texans he allowed 2 catches on 2 targets for 7 yards. Nelson is a quick player. He moves around the field in a near flash. But, his technique is weak. He is a college cover LB, who struggles with the NFL game. Against the run he is good, if he doesn’t get engaged by a blocker.
