Aug 17, 2014; Santa Clara, CA, USA; San Francisco 49ers tackle Jonathan Martin (71) defends against Denver Broncos defensive tackle Marvin Austin (76) in the inaugural football game at Levi

Defensive Tackle:

Terrance Knighton: A

Sylvester Williams: B

Marvin Austin: B-

Mitch Unrein: B+

Sione Fua: B

Cody Larsen: C

Overall: B

The interior of the defensive line is so talented and so deep. Terrance Knighton is a complete beast. Double teams don’t even seem to face him. If you are the ball carrier and Knighton gets his arms on you, you’re going down. Sylvester Williams is so quick off the snap, he seems to be in the backfield before the OL can even react. Austin did not have as good of a game, but was still really good. He flashes his ability to penetrate the offensive line and cause disruption. Unrein and Fua are fighting against all odds to mke the team and it showed. Unrein was such a force, forcing a fumble, tipping a pass and so much more. Fua was constantly getting his blocker pushed back and into the backfield. Larsen was the worst looking defensive linemen, but he still graded out with a C. He was up and down all game with having a good play followed by a bad one.
