Special Teams
- K Matt Prater: C-
For someone who is normally money from long distance, Prater went wide on a long field goal attempt. His kickoffs looked like they always do. A touchback.
- P Britton Colquitt: D
One solid punt wasn’t enough to save his grade after a complete fail of a kick for 35 yards.
- LS Aaron Brewer: A
His snaps were on point. Got to the target safely and on point. Not much more you ask of the long snapper.
- K Mitch Ewald: C
Ewald had no field goal attempts and only two kickoffs. One got returned. His hang time was slightly better than Prater’s, but was about a yard shorter.
Overall: C
The special teams unit is hard one to judge. They get few chances to show what they can do. A missed field goal and failed punt can destroy a grade.
The majority of the team played really well. Being the first game of the preseason, some hiccups are expected. Game two and three are when the real reads of players and their abilities come out. There is three games left, which is plenty of time to get the kinks worked out. Because, once the regular season starts, there is minimal room for error.
