Round Two Recap – Denver Broncos at American Century Championship
By Craig Hurst

John Elway, Britton Colquitt, Terrell Dave, and Coach John Fox compete in Lake Tahoe golf tournament
The 25th American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, Nevada is two-thirds complete. For a recap of the four golfers with Denver Bronco ties in the Saturday round, please continue reading.
Of the four participating golfers with Bronco ties, John Elway had the best day of the four. Elway, who scored ten points on Friday, had a better scoring round on Saturday, by adding another 18 points to his tally. Elway’s front nine on Saturday included a par, four pars, and four bogies. The back nine, however, saw Elway fire eight pars and a birdie. Typical Elway fashion to save his best for the end! Having said that, the third and final round should be fun to watch and see how close Elway can get to the top of the leader board. Entering the third round, Elway has a total of 28 points, which puts him in 22nd place all by himself. Elway’s third round begins at 9:00am PT and has him paired with former Oakland Raider receiver Tim Brown, and Green Bay Packer quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Wouldn’t you love to hear their conversations as they walk the 18 holes today?
Seven points behind Elway is current Bronco punter, Britton Colquitt. Colquitt earned 9 points on Saturday bringing his total score to 21 points, which has him tied with four others at 29th place. Colquitt had a pretty decent round of golf on Saturday that saw him get a birdie, ten pars, and five bogies. Two double bogies on holes twelve and fourteen caused him to lose four points, which basically dropped him four spots in the overall standings. Colquitt is paired with former Chicago Bears, Jim McMahon and Brian Urlacher. The threesome is scheduled to tee off at 8:40am PT. Given the popularity of McMahon and Urlacher, I would expect the group to have a large following. Let’s hope Colquitt represents the Broncos well around these two Bears!
After round one and a score of one point, Terrell Davis dropped eleven spots on the leader board after scoring -9 points on Saturday. Entering round two Davis was in 53rd place but six bogies and seven double bogies in round two saw him fall to 64th place. The eleven spot slide to 64th place was the biggest slide, up or down, by the four players with Bronco ties. Davis is paired with former Major League Baseball catcher, Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez, and Steve Spurrier, current football coach for University of South Carolina. The threesome tees off at 8:55am PT.
One could say that Bronco Coach John Fox stopped the bleeding on Saturday. While Friday saw Fox score a -9, Saturday saw some improvement, and he scored a -3, six points better than round one. Entering the third round Coach Fox has a total of -12 points, which keeps him at 69th place all by himself. Fox starts his third round at 9:25am PT and is paired with Arizona Cardinal cornerback Patrick Peterson and actor/comedian Bill Engvall.
Third round coverage of the American Century Championship will be televised live on NBC from noon-3pm PT (1-4pm MT).
