As is the case with every single NFL draft, general managers and decision makers around the league get a chance to speak to the media, an annual opportunity to confuse the heck out of everyone even more than has been done up to this point.

John Elway messed with the heads of Broncos fans on Monday, leaving the door open for a draft night trade.

“We’re looking at the options of moving up, but we’re also looking at the possibility of moving back,” Elway said. “Leading up to the draft there’s going to be plenty of talk out there, and until you really get to draft day you never really know what’s going to happen.”

He’s right. We don’t know.

And we won’t.

Picking at the bottom of the draft, your guess is as good as any as to who the Broncos will pick. There are countless players I would keep in play and even more guys that we say right now for sure won’t be there, but you just never know.

If you throw in the option of trading up — which Elway hasn’t done in the first round — or trading down and out, which Elway HAS done, the options are truly endless.

The Broncos will be on the clock before we know it, and even then, I expect us to have no clue what player they might select.

But it sure is fun to try and guess.
