One week removed from watching the Denver Broncos earn their seventh American Football Conference Championship, I don’t think it has really set in that the Broncos are back in the Super Bowl. It is hard to believe that fourteen seasons have passed since the Broncos last appeared in a Super Bowl. Let’s hope the Broncos never experience a Super Bowl drought that lasts that long again. Because there are no guarantees in the NFL and the league is so competitive, I urge all Bronco fans to enjoy this ride and make the most of it.
I was fortunate to attend the divisional playoff game against the San Diego Chargers, as well as the conference championship against the New England Patriots. Having had Bronco season tickets for over twenty seasons, I’ve been to a lot of games, and I can proudly say that there was a different feeling in the air on those two Sundays compared to a regular season game. Thankfully, the Broncos were able to take care of business on the field and come away with two victories. The feelings and the excitement has obviously carried over into normal life as we are one week away from Super Bowl XLVIII – and I don’t even live in Colorado (unfortunately).
I am amazed that when I am out in public the massive amount of people you see in Bronco stuff. I think this is very cool, but I do have a bit of mixed emotions because I wonder how long some of these people have been fans – two weeks, two months, two seasons, or two decades? I don’t waste a lot of time on those thoughts because I love seeing people in Bronco stuff – even if they are jumping on the wagon. I know the dedicated, long-time, die-hard Bronco fans are enjoying this magical season and are primed and ready for the Super Bowl.
Seven days to go – are you ready? Super Bowl week kickoffs today and the coverage and hype will increase, if that’s even possible. Like I stated earlier, there is no guarantee whatsoever that the Broncos will make it this far again so please Bronco fans, take some time this week, step back, and truly appreciate what we are getting to experience right now as citizens of Broncos Country! If you enjoyed watching the Broncos raise the Lamar Hunt Trophy, just think how exciting it will be to see the raise the Vince Lombardi Trophy…. again!
Go Broncos – good luck in Super Bowl XLVIII!
