Holiday Traditions of Your Favorite Denver Broncos Players

Most years, the Denver Broncos end up working in some capacity on Christmas day. This year, December 25th falls on a Wednesday, which means the Broncos will in fact have practice.

Nevertheless, players still enjoy the holidays. That’s why we asked certain players what their favorite holiday traditions are. Here’s what they told us:

“I always like decorating the Christmas tree. We put music on and drink apple cider. I always laugh when I pull out the ornament with my 3rd grade picture on it.” –Julius Thomas

“One tradition that we started is we always watch a lot of Christmas movies. A favorite is Home Alone.” – Chris Harris

“I like Christmas Eve. Everyone dresses up and we get to open that one present so I’m always looking forward to Christmas Eve.” – Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

“The first thing that comes to mind is probably reading the bible. We read the nativity scene out of Luke. I just remember doing that every Christmas Eve as a kid. Now my wife and I are able to do that with our own son. We’ll maybe open one present on Christmas Eve also.” – Jacob Tamme

“I don’t really have a favorite. My birthday is on Christmas so it’s always a fun day.” – Demaryius Thomas

“It’s really about spending time with family. That’s pretty much what it is. I think people get confused about what the holiday is really about. It’s really about family.” – Champ Bailey

“I came from a family where my mom was a nurse so she was always working on the holidays. My dad was kind of a Grinch type of guy so I really didn’t have a whole lot of holiday traditions growing up. I married my wife and she’s really instilled in me the holiday traditions of presents and a big Christmas tree. I’m becoming more understanding of all that.” – Joel Dreessen

“I love Christmas so I’m pretty big on Christmas movies. I’ve got to get them all in. My ultimate favorite is the Muppets Christmas Carol. I watch that on Christmas Eve. I usually throw in a little peppermint ice cream with that. That’s big on my list. Putting up the tree right after Thanksgiving this year is big. This year I started listening to Christmas music at the end of October. Now I’ve got a little boy, so I’m kind of learning new holiday traditions like taking him to see Santa.” – Britton Colquitt

“My favorite holiday memory would have to be waking up in the morning as a child and opening up my first gift. My parents would let me open one the night before. One year I got a real size basketball goal. I was in 6th grade, and we played on it until it broke down.” – Tony Carter

“I like to watch Home Alone every Christmas with my family. I would have to say the second one is my favorite. That and egg nog.” – Montee Ball
