Not quite as pointless as power rankings are ESPN NFL Analyst Ron Jaworski’s quarterback rankings, which hold a lot of weight in the football community because arguably no one in the media does more research on QBs than Jaws.
For the longest time, Aaron Rodgers was the top QB on Jaws’ list, and rightfully so. Now, for the first time this season, he’s got Manning ranked #1.
You have to have ESPN Insider access to read the full post and get all the rankings, but the Broncos fans at least get a snippet of what Jaws has to say about Manning. Here’s a piece from Jaws’ post that I thought was really amazing:
I went over each play in the Denver-Philadelphia game 10 times trying to see through his eyes. I think I have a pretty well-trained eye at this point and I don’t see this stuff. On the first set against the Eagles, Philadelphia blitzes from its nickel package and he audibles to a run right at the blitz, gaining 16 yards. He has always been good at this element of the game, and now he’s at another level.
Manning’s numbers are just unreal. Let’s marvel at them together:
