Quick hits from Coach Fox at the Combine
With everyone getting settled in for the combine here are a couple of quotes from the first interview with Coach Fox.
Regarding what it’s like to have a bit of continuity in Denver vs. the rest of the AFC West that has seen a ton of shaking up this offseason:
“Every year, there’s going to be changes, there’s adjustments, and the key is to keep your system intact and keep trying to move forward. I think continuity is very important—as best you can throughout tenure as a head coach.”
Regarding the grading of college prospects:
“There are not very many tests that we don’t give them. And at the end of the day, you’re trying to find football players. The bigger, stronger, faster ones go earlier than the other ones.”
Regarding the young safeties on the roster:
“I think [S] Rahim [Moore] probably might have been one of our most improved players from year one to year two.”
Regarding the possibility of Denver signing a big name free agent this week:
“We’re in that process of trying to improve our football team. Whether it is college guys that we’re going to have a good look at this week or whether it is on the pro side, the process is starting.”
Regarding [C] J.D. Walton’s future once he has recovered from injury:
“He’s definitely the starter, and that’s the way he’ll start the season when we form back up.”
Regarding the signing of [T] Ryan Clady”
“That’s the business side; I don’t really get too much involved with that. I know we want Ryan, and that Ryan wants to be a Denver Bronco”
Regarding [QB] Brock Osweiler and whether or not having him on the roster negates the need to draft a QB:
“He’s made great progress; he’s really been impressive both on and off the field. I think he’s got a lot of the intangibles. He didn’t get a lot of opportunity, but when he did, he did very well.”
I’m unbearably excited this season to get started. GO BRONCOS!!
