2013 NFL Mock Draft: The Denver Broncos Select…

facebooktwitterreddit

In terms of championship teams, there’s always building to be done. Yes, the Denver Broncos are 9-3 right now and pointed nose first into the playoffs, but like legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden used to say, “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.”

The Broncos don’t just want to win the big one this year. They want to set themselves up for future success. That’s why I bring the ‘D’ word to you today. That’s right, the Draft.

FanSided.com just released its first 2013 NFL Mock Draft. Immediately I jumped to the 26th pick (that’s where the Broncos would select if the season ended today).

With the 26th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select:

"26. Denver Broncos – C.J. Mosley, Outside Linebacker, AlabamaMosely is too good to pass up. Many draft scouts have called Mosley the best true linebacker in the draft and it’s no secret that the Broncos could benefit from adding star-studded linebackers to their roster. – Josh Sanchez (FanSided)"

C.J. Mosley is without a doubt a huge talent. He’s been named a finalist for the Butkus Award, and he’s a surefire tackler. Adding him to the mix of Von Miller and Wesley Woodyard would absolutely make the Broncos’ defense more threatening. However, the Broncos have other needs first.

The Broncos picked defensive tackle Derek Wolfe with their first selection last year, but I would say the team needs to pull from the position again in the first round. Justin Bannan, Kevin Vickerson, and Mitch Unrein will be free agents when the season’s over, and the Broncos need more young talent to clog the middle.

A second position of need is at cornerback. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Broncos take a promising corner in the first round since Champ Bailey will be 35-years-old. The team has Chris Harris, and Tony Carter, but again, more depth is needed.

This is just food for thought. Let us know what you think? Which position/player should the Broncos go after in the first round of this year’s draft?
