Broncos’ Surprise Gem CB Chris Harris Looking For Better Year In 2012

Cornerback Chris Harris was undoubtedly a fan favorite last season. He came into the league undrafted out of Kansas and racked up 71 tackles and an interception to close out a very successful rookie campaign.

According to Harris, this is the perfect time to play corner in the NFL.

“I definitely feel like I came in at the right time,” Harris said after Wednesday’s practice. “Everybody plays the spread, and throws the ball at least 30 times per game. It’s a good thing for a guy like me. I can play in space and cover slots real well. I can also play outside too.”

Harris surprised a lot of people last season, making a name for himself early on.

“Last year my goal was just to make the team,” Harris said. “I knew that special teams was they way I had to make an impression on the coaches.”

Harris will back up Drayton Florence in the nickel package, and he will likely see plenty of time in the dime package.

Now Harris is graced with the presence of some great veterans in Champ Bailey, Drayton Florence, and Tracy Porter.

“It’s only going to make us better,” Harris said of having those guys. “It’s going to make us very competitive becuase we’re competing against each other everyday.”
