Patriots’ Belichick Has Nothing But Respect For Tebow
By Editorial Staff
The New England Patriots had a sneaking suspicion that they would be seeing the Denver Broncos again after their first meeting in December. Bill Belichick told some of the Denver players that they would meet again, and Tom Brady said the same to Tim Tebow immediately after the Patriots’ 41-23 win in Denver.
The prophecy has come true as the two teams now meet in the divisional round of the playoffs this Saturday night. This is happening for the Broncos thanks in large part to Tim Tebow’s 316 yard passing day, including 2 touchdowns, and 50 rushing yards and another score on the ground against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Many people were shocked by Tebow’s best performance as an NFL pro, but Belichick was not.
“He looked pretty good all year long,” Belichick said. “Tim’s a good football player. He does a lot of things well, he’s a winner, and he does the things to help his team win. I have a lot of respect for him and how he plays the game, and certainly his performance and production.”
The question now is will Tebow maintain that level of productivity or will he regress back into the quarterback that we saw in weeks 15, 16, and 17 in which he had 7 turnovers in that span.
Belichick is preparing for the best Tebow and the best Broncos team that he’s seen this year.
“I thought the Broncos played obviously very, very well in all three phases of the game, and deserved to win,” Belichick said of their game against the Steelers.
That’s the team the Patriots are preparing for, and that’s the team Broncos fans want to show up again.
