Von Miller Feeling Good About First NFL Game

Von Miller took some time out to discuss his first preseason game on Pro Football Talk. The rookie linebacker and the Broncos No.2 overall draft pick said that nothing really surprised him about his first game in the NFL, and in fact, the game slowed down for him a bit.

“In practice, we run a pretty fast tempo out here. In the game, it slowed down a little bit,” Miller said.

The team’s go-to pass rusher, Elvis Dumervil, has played a big role in helping Von Miller adjust to NFL speed.

“Using my hands. In college, you can just do a little move and get by guys. He’s [Dumervil] taught me a lot about technique.”

Miller and the Broncos starting defense played in the first series, and then in one play of the second series. Miller would have liked to play longer, but he understands that preseason is about keeping players healthy.

“I felt like I did some positive things. This coming week, maybe I’ll play a little bit longer,” Miller said.

The Broncos starting defense gave up an 18 yard run to Felix Jones, but in the end, they held the Cowboys to a field goal on the first drive.

“When we got in there, I think we were fully prepared,” Miller said. “I feel like it’s a winning mentality. I got that same feeling at Texas A&M.”
