A Friend In Need Is A Friend Indeed: Broncos 1st Pick

The Broncos traded for the third time this draft, but their latest move propelled them two spots upward thanks to Josh McDaniels’ friends in New England.

With that pick, the Broncos selected Demaryius Thomas, the wideout from Georgia Tech. Many people thought that the Broncos wouldn’t take a wide receiver in the first round, and if they did, Dez Bryant was a good possibility. However, the Broncos reportedly say that Thomas reminds them of Brandon Marshall the most. Thomas has the size at 6’3”, 224 lbs and he’s faster than Marshall. He was constantly ranked just behind Dez Bryant as the best receiver in the league. The only downside to him is that he doesn’t have experience in a pro-style type of offense.

With the release of Marshall and more recently, Tony Scheffler, the Broncos didn’t have many receiving threats, and now they’ve got a great one downfield. Now that this void has been filled, expect the Broncos to bulk up the offensive and defensive lines in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
