It’s always good to remember the past, but not live in it. This applies to the Denver Broncos who enter the playoffs on a three game losing skid. While the Broncos got into postseason play due to a Raiders loss, the Broncos aren’t analyzing their fortune too much.

It’s a ‘win out’ philosophy in the Broncos locker room. They’re in and that’s all that matters.

“At the end of the day, we made it. We’re in. It’s over now, and we’ve got a big game coming up this weekend,” Willis McGahee said.

The Broncos will host the 12-4 Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday at 2:30 p.m. MST. The last playoff game that the Broncos played in, they ironically lost to the Steelers in the AFC Championship game 27-13 in 2005.

“They are a good tournament team every year,” Champ Bailey said. “We definitely have to bring our ‘A’ game. We’ll look at the tape and see what they’re doing well, and what they’re doing bad, and just prepare our butts off for this game.”

The Denver Broncos are once again the Kings of the AFC West, but there was no hooting, hollering, or howling after the game. The title hats and t-shirts are still in their cardboard boxes, and smiles should have been a Mile wide, but they weren’t because the Broncos lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 7-3.

In an odd turn of events, Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers helped the Broncos tremendously by beating the Oakland Raiders 38-26. Thus, the Broncos head into the playoffs on a three game skid, and will likely host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday night. Bring on the terrible towels, leave the terrible offense at home, please.

The Broncos’ offense struggled mightily against a Chiefs team that was allowing 22.3 points per game. Unfortunately for the Broncos, the Steelers are allowing just 14.5 points per game. The Broncos didn’t get their first 1st down of the game until the second quarter.

Everyone looked up in the fourth quarter expecting the clock to strike Tebow o’clock. The Broncos needed to punch the ball into the end zone just once to take the lead, but it was something that they had not done all day. Hopefully, Tebow magic wasn’t left back in 2011.

The big news of the day is that Broncos’ RB Willis McGahee returned to practice. He practiced with a wrapped hand, being eight days removed from surgery to repair his fourth metacarpal.

McGahee was limited during practice and reportedly only carried the ball with his left hand. If he’s not able to use both hands, he will not play against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

“He definitely would have to be able to use that hand to obviously carry the football and hold on to the football,” John Fox said of McGahee’s status for Sunday.

At this point, the incision is nearly healed and the risk for infection is low, so it’s all about his pain tolerance. McGahee has a plate and screws in his hand.

McGahee is averaging 76.7 yards per game which is good enough for 11th among backs.

The Broncos aren’t the only team that has had their starting back down and out.
