The results are in and it’s time to hand out the third Predominantly Orange “Golden Bucky” award, and the winner of the Denver Broncos Comeback Player of the Year award for the 2011-12 season is running back Willis McGahee.

McGahee received 44% of the fan vote, with defensive end Elvis Dumervil receiving 28% and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas getting an honorable mention with 23% of the votes. All other nominees received at least one vote.

Before signing with the Broncos as a free agent this past season, McGahee played for the Buffalo Bills from 2004-06 and then with the Baltimore Ravens from 2007-10. In his last season with the Ravens in 2010, McGahee started in only two games and accumulated a mere 380 yards on 100 carries the entire season. Thought of as a back-up running back who’s best years were behind him, the Ravens released McGahee, who was quickly snatched up by Denver. McGahee had a great comeback season for the Broncos in 2011, starting in 13 games and earning 1,199 rushing yards on 249 carries and four touchdowns. He also made 12 receptions for 51 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Congratulations to Willis McGahee on this fan decided honor and his second “Golden Bucky”! Now, it’s time to vote on the next category, which is Underrated Player of the Year. Voting ends on Sunday, Feb. 19th at midnight, so get those votes in and tune in next week to see who gets the fourth “Golden Bucky” award and to vote on the next category!
