And the off-season continues to be an interesting development still! As with last week, this week comes with more interesting acquisitions as teams scoop up free agents. So far this off-season, the Denver Broncos available players and staff have furnished nearly every team in the AFC West.

Let’s recap, shall we?
So far, the best acquisition was I believe when the San Diego Chargers have filled their much-needed coaching position with former offensive coordinator, Mike McCoy. As of Tuesday, the Oakland Raiders announced that they reached an agreement on a one-year deal with former CB of the Broncos, Tracy Porter.

Porter started in the 2012 season with the Broncos, signed from the New Orleans Saints, however he was replaced by Chris Harris after coping from the effects from a seizure he suffered from in August. You can’t fault the guy; he did what most have done this off-season and go with the best offer. “They [the Oakland Raiders] presented the best opportunity for me to get my career back on track after what transpired last season with the Denver Broncos.” Porter said during an ESPN correspondence.

So we have the Chargers and Raiders both with Denver acquisitions, what about the Kansas City Chiefs? Well, they got a head start last year when they gave QB backup, Brady Quinn. Although Quinn and Porter did not see a lot of playing time with the Broncos, everyone deserves a good fit to compliment their talents. The Broncos are no doubt the strongest team in the AFC West, and it will take a lot to take the AFC West title from them. Fear not, there is more to come! So far, little has happened in the realm of trading for picks in the Draft that I have seen. Stay tuned, the ride has just begun!
Go Broncos!

It was Jack Del Rio that helped bring cornerback Tracy Porter to Denver last season, but former Broncos defensive coordinator and current Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen is reportedly interested in the six-year veteran out of Indiana.

Bill Williamson of ESPN says that Porter is drawing interest from a couple of teams.

According to an NFL source, the Raiders, who are in need of two starting cornerbacks, are showing interest in Denver cornerback Tracy Porter…Porter is also getting interest from his original team, New Orleans. He could be a backup plan there should Nnamdi Asomugha not sign with the Saints. -Bill Williamson (ESPN)

Allen was also Porter’s position coach in New Orleans. Porter suffered a seizure in preseason and played in just six games last season. He experienced seizure-like symptoms before the team boarded their flight to San Diego in week 6. Once he was cleared to return to action, he suffered a season ending concussion against Cleveland in week 16. Everyone knew that Porter’s brief stint in Denver would come to an end with the emergence of young corners Chris Harris and Tony Carter. The Broncos added Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in free agency as well.

Porter has 21 tackles and one interception in 2012. His lone interception was returned for a touchdown in the fourth quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers in week one.

Wherever Porter ends up, we wish him the best.

For the first time since week 5 when the Denver Broncos lost to the New England Patriots, cornerback Tracy Porter was in the active lineup against the Cleveland Browns.

Porter had a seizure during training camp in August and was being monitored closely before having similar seizure-related symptoms prior to the team’s departure for San Diego in week 6.

Since then, Chris Harris and Tony Carter had done a nice job of filling in for Porter while he got his symptoms under control. In fact, Harris did so well that the team decided to keep him in the starting lineup Sunday even though Porter was dressed to play.

The team put Carter on the inactive list prior to the game, presumably because he gave up a couple of big plays against the Baltimore Ravens last week.

“He missed a long time,” John Fox said of Porter. “In professional athletics, it takes a while to get back to the top of your game. He hit that point this week and we activated him.”

Life was looking up for Porter. Life was looking up until his first tackle in the first quarter against the Browns.

Porter staggered to his feet and ran awkwardly toward the sideline. After being taken to the locker room for further evaluation, the team ruled him out with a concussion of all things.

“He was down,” Fox said. “It was a pretty hard collision, something I was kind of crossing my fingers for. It didn’t work out, but he’ll battle back. He battled back from his last situation and I’m sure he’ll battle back from this.”

The question is will he battle back in time for the playoffs. If not, the Broncos may think about releasing him at the end of the season.

Omar Boldin filled in for Porter in the nickel package, and had 3 tackles.
