It’s extremely difficult for a rookie to come in and immediately be successful in the NFL.

Von Miller defied the odds and proved his worth as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 draft.

Miller was 10th in the league in sacks with 11.5 on the season (one spot ahead of Julius Peppers), he had 64 tackles, and 2 forced fumbles. He started in 15 games for the Broncos despite having surgery on his right thumb, and dealing with a giant cast on his hand.

Fan voting for rookie of the year is going on right now at NFL.com. Other rookies vying for the title are Andy Dalton (3,398 yards, 20 TDs), Cam Newton (21 pass TDs, 14 rush TDs), Patrick Peterson (4 punt return TDs), and Aldon Smith (14 sacks).
