From the bowels of the AFC West we first told you about the San Diego Chargers requiring fans wishing to attend the Chargers v. Broncos Monday night game to buy Chargers v. Chiefs tickets first.

Now we bring you this from Kansas City. There will be a Chiefs banner flying over Arrowhead this weekend that will read “WE DESERVE BETTER? FIRE PIOLI – BENCH CASSEL.”

A reader from Chiefs Planet decided to collect some money ($625) to fly the banner before the Chiefs take on the Baltimore Ravens. The guy flying the plane is a Chiefs fan as well.

The major story here isn’t just that Chiefs’ fans are so desperate for change, but the fact that a lot of times fans make the call for a lot of NFL franchises. Think Tim Tebow will be starting over Mark Sanchez this season? I do. Think Kyle Orton will be replacing Tony Romo at some point? I do. Think Brady Quinn will be pushing Matt Cassel out of his starting role. I do, especially after this ariel fan push.

Long live the little voices amongst the giant NFL.

Perhaps if circumstances in Denver were different, former Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn would have played in a regular season game during his two years with the team. Instead, he was forced to battle it out with Kyle Orton and fan favorite Tim Tebow before riding the pine for two long NFL seasons.

Quinn went to the Kansas City Chief in the off season and could have the chance to play if Matt Cassel gets hurt. He will at least get more reps there than he did in Denver.

Quinn still has he believers and one of them is none other than his former college coach, Charlie Weis.

“Brady could have been a starting quarterback for me in the NFL,” Weis says.

“Go back and look at those numbers for the two years he played for me,” Weis said. “He was great. He wasn’t good. And I know if I had him as a quarterback, I would have felt very comfortable that I could have won no matter where we were.” -Charlie Weis (Kansas City Star) 

I personally hope that Quinn does get a chance again. He was nothing but professional during a rough time in Denver. The last season that Quinn played (2009), he passed for 1,339 yards (67.2% completion rate), 8 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions in 10 games.

Now that things have settled down a bit after the draft, let’s get back to looking ahead at the Broncos 2012 schedule. We will continue to take a game-by-game look at the season that the team has in front of them. 

Winning at Arrowhead is never an easy thing to do, but the Broncos will test their strength in week 12 against the Chiefs. The Chiefs will be coming off a home game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Chiefs were hampered by injuries to their stars last season, but they still finished 7-9. Matt Cassel played in just nine games, Jamaal Charles, Eric Berry, and Tony Moeaki went down with injuries as well.

When the Broncos and Chiefs met in 2011, the Broncos won in November at Arrowhead 17-10. Then in week 17, the Chiefs won 7-3.

The Chiefs were hurting on offense, literally. The injuries helped them to a 31st ranking in points (13.3 per game). They were 15th in rushing and 25th in passing.

On defense, they were 12th in points allowed (21.1 per game), 26th in rush defense, and 6th in pass defense.

Free agency saw the Chiefs bring in some good talent in former Broncos Peyton Hillis and Brady Quinn. The team also picked up tight end Kevin Boss and offensive tackle Eric Winston. The Chiefs’ backfield is one to be frightened of.

The Chiefs used the draft to stack their lines. They picked the numbers King, DT Dontari Poe, with their first round pick (11th overall). Then it was two guards (Jeff Allen and Donald Stephenson) to beef up the offensive line.

Assuming the Chiefs stay healthy this season, this is a deadly bunch.

Early Prediction: Broncos – 21 Chiefs – 17. Sneak one in Arrowhead just like last year.
