The NFL is a small world. If you don’t believe me just ask wide receiver Jason Hill who signed with the Denver Broncos in February and was with the team through the end of preseason before being released.

With the season-ending foot injury to New York Jets receiver Santonio Holmes, the Jets decided to bring Hill aboard. This is the same Jason Hill that called the Jets and Darrelle Revis “overhyped” while he was with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“I think sometimes they get overhyped. I talked to Drew [Coleman], Drew played there. He says it’s just the aura of New York. They got a big media. That’s not the Jacksonville paper, that’s the big New York Times paper so they get more pub. That’s what it is. It’s a game that we all play. He been playing the game, Revis, just as long as I’ve been playing. This is a game full of good players making plays. He just made a lot more plays on TV than we’ve made being here in Jacksonville. He’s a good player. We respect him. Hopefully he respects us because we’re going to bring it just like they’re going to bring it.” – Jason Hill (Florida Union Times)

The Denver Broncos were thin at receiver in 2011, especially when Eric Decker or Eddie Royal went down and were forced to miss games. We all remember Tim Tebow lining up wide right as a receiver and blocking for Lance Ball against the Cincinnati Bengals in the early part of the season. That’s when the team still had Brandon Lloyd too.

The Broncos are making an effort to add some depth to their receiving core this offseason. It all started Thursday morning when the team signed six year veteran receiver Jason Hill.

Hill was drafted in the third round in 2007 by the San Francisco 49ers. His best season came in 2008 when he had 30 receptions for 317 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hill played in Jacksonville where he had 36 receptions for 615 yards and 4 touchdowns during his two year stint there. Hill was released in November after Jack Del Rio was fired. No one picked him up after that.

The most infamous moment of Hill’s career came when he called out Darrelle Revis before the Jags played the Jets.
