Arguably the most memorable play of the Denver Broncos season came when Tim Tebow threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas on the first play in overtime to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wildcard round of the playoffs.

Now the helmet that Thomas wore when making that catch has a place in Canton. Yes, the helmet rests in the NFL Hall of Fame because the league likes to keep record-breaking memorabilia on display. The play was the longest scoring play in NFL playoff overtime history. The play took just 11 seconds off the clock which also makes it the shortest overtime in playoff history.

Congratulations to the Broncos for getting more orange and blue into the Hall of Fame.

“Back when I was your age…”

It’s a phrase uttered all too often probably because our world is changing at a rapid pace.

I usually start the sentence and then finish it with something like, “My mom had to yell at me to get off the internet so she could use the phone.”

That’s what is going on in the NFL too.

If you placed a bet in favor of wild and loud-mouth players like Deion Sanders and Shannon Sharpe never using that phrase, you would be down a few bucks.

During a roundtable discussion with the 2011 Hall of Fame Class, led by Adam Schefter, the topic of how the game of football has changed since they played came up.

“The game itself hasn’t really changed. It’s the people that are in it and what they do that have changed,” Chris Hanburger said. “In today’s game there’s just too much celebrating going on.”

A packed stadium, a warm brat, a Goodyear blimp overhead, and a the clashing of shoulder pads speak volumes on Sundays.

Every week, family and friends gather around a television or pack into a car to head to a stadium and spend time together routing on their favorite team. It’s the equivalent to an Italian family dinner. All are welcome so long as a curse word doesn’t bother your ears.
