Super Bowl Sunday is here and under normal circumstances it would most definitely be the highlight of my weekend but this year is different. Although I know professional football is only a game and exists only for entertainment, I still haven’t gotten over the bitter ending to the Denver Bronco season. The fact that the Broncos were so close and squandered a tremendous opportunity has somewhat soured my taste for today and the game that will crown a champion in the National Football League. I am a 100%, die-hard Bronco fan and because of that I am torn – do I watch Super Bowl XLVII or would I be more content watching replays of Super Bowl XXXII and XXXIII – the two Super Bowls that the Broncos won?! I will actually probably do both. Because there is a tremendous amount of coverage on the current Super Bowl and I find it difficult to watch given the reason already noted, continue reading for a recap of the six Super Bowls that the Broncos have represented the American Football Conference.

By my calculations, ESPN, The NFL Network, and NBC are scheduled for approximately 18 hours of pregame coverage of Super Bowl XLVI. You can either tune into these programs to find out the latest team news regarding injuries, final game day preparations, pre-game meals, Saturday night bed checks, team bus arrival times, and other useless trivia knowledge, or you can search the internet for Bronco Super Bowl history. The New England Patriots and New York Giants may have the spotlight today but The Broncos are still the most important team to us. To help get you started, I’ve included a brief synopsis of the Broncos Super Bowl history.

Will he get his chance? (Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)

We get it. Kyle Orton is the Broncos starting quarterback. However, down 49-17 in the fourth quarter, surely a quarterback change would be in order.

“We feel Kyle Orton is our starting quarterback,” John Fox said for the 1,000th time since taking over as head coach of the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos have a “Tebow Package” so why not use it in more than one play in a game that was almost lost before the coin toss?

In an orange and blue world that already has enough quarterback controversy, the last thing John Fox wanted to do was put more fuel on the fire by letting Tim Tebow play. Tebow most likely would have done some great things and would have done some bad things in the Broncos loss, and there’s no doubt that his play would have injected more life into the Broncos already turbulent situation at QB.

However, why not remove “your” starting quarterback, take away any chance of injuring him in a game that is already lost, and let the young gun gain some experience? If anything, letting the world see him play would amp up Tebow’s trade value if Kyle Orton really is the man you believe gives your team the best chance at winning.
