Denver Broncos’ secondary coach Don Milus did not have his contract renewed as announced by the team on Tuesday. It wasn’t due to Rahim Moore’s poor coverage in the double overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens either. This move was reportedly coming regardless.

To replace Milus who was with the Broncos for two year, the team promoted Cory Undlin.

Undlin spent 2012 as the Broncos’ defensive quality control coach.

“Cory Undlin is an experienced defensive backs coach who has great familiarity with that role as well as our players and concepts,” John Fox said. “He has coached the position with multiple NFL teams, including under Jack Del Rio with the Jaguars. I am confident he will be a great fit and get the most out of our secondary.

“I appreciate all of Ron Milus’ hard work and wish him the best.”

Before his time in Denver, Undlin spent three seasons in Jacksonville coaching defensive backs (2010-11) and linebackers (2009) for Del Rio, Denver’s defensive coordinator. He also coached four seasons in Cleveland (2005-08) and one year in New England (2004), working primarily with the secondary in both stops.

Undlin is a 9-year NFL veteran.
