The amount of drama that filled the AFC West could match any Steven Spielberg creation. It came down to last second plays, and players who made last second efforts to try to give their teams another mark in the win column. In the end, it was a great day around the division regardless of who you were pulling for. Here’s a look at what happened and what’s to come.

Denver Broncos (1-4):

Looking Back: The record isn’t a good barometer for how Broncos fans are feeling. Their second home loss, and their third consecutive loss was a thriller of a game. Kyle Orton could smell the extra popcorn being popped from the sidelines as Tim Tebow took the field in the second half. Down by 16 points midway through the fourth quarter, Tebow lit a fire under some pads. He ran for a touchdown and threw for another one to pull the Broncos to within two points. One last Tebow heave with one last second on the clock fell through the hands of Matthew Willis in the back of the end zone. Chargers – 29 Broncos – 24. It’s Tebow o’clock.

Looking Forward: The Broncos who have had many of their starters injured for most of the season have a much needed bye. Players like Champ Bailey can get extra rest and extra treatment before finishing out the rest of the season on a strong note. Should he be named the team’s starting QB, Tim Tebow will get the extra reps in before stepping out into live action again. His work from under center needs improvement. Once the off week is over, the Broncos will head to South Beach to take on the Dolphins.
(AP)

In breaking news, Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis has died. He passed away this morning at the age of 82.

Davis’s Raiders saw much success over his 48 years with the team, most notably their Super Bowl XI, XV, and XVIII wins. Davis was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992. He is the only person in league history to serve as personnel assistant, scout, head coach general manager, owner, and league commissioner.

As much as Broncos fans don’t like the Raiders, this truly is the end of an era in the NFL. Davis was a pioneer and he did a lot for the game of football. His crass attitude often made the headlines, but Davis certainly had a softer side that was characterized by mostly passion.

Davis was charming, cantankerous and compassionate—a man who when his wife suffered a serious heart attack in the 1970s moved into her hospital room. But he was best known as a rebel, a man who established a team whose silver-and-black colors and pirate logo symbolized his attitude toward authority, both on the field and off. – Josh Dubow (Associated Press via the Denver Post)

Davis coined the phrase “Just win, baby,” and his Raiders of 2011? They are 2-2 and on the upswing. The Houston Texans had better watch out tomorrow. The Raiders are playing with open tear ducts heavy hearts, and they want nothing more than to “just win” for their late owner.

R.I.P. Al Davis

Chris Schellcroft of Fansided’s Oakland Raiders blog, JustBlogBaby, answered some questions for me about his Raiders. Chris is without question a Raiders expert, so make sure to check out his blog. Another reason to hit up his site is because I answered some very unorthodox questions about the Broncos. You may have fun coming up with your own answers. For example….

Q: If Lane Kiffin and Josh McDaniels were locked in a room with only a clipboard and a cell phone who would come out alive and why?

A: If you ask Jay Cutler, Josh McDaniels doesn’t know how to use a cell phone, so I give the Survival of the Most Controversial title to Lane Kiffin. Kiffin would leave a note for McDaniels on the clipboard saying “Just won baby” and he would call Tom Cable to come and punch down the door.
