The Denver Broncos‘ secondary just got a little deeper.

After visiting with both the Buffalo Bills and Denver this week, veteran safety Jim Leonhard came away as a Bronco. The signing is the latest in a long line of moves this offseason focused on improving the talent in the Broncos’ secondary.

With the news of Peyton Manning choosing the Denver Broncos as the next stop in his legendary career, the excitement is palpable in the mile high air. And every piece of confetti is merited.

While the 2011 Broncos captivated the nation’s imagination with a torrent of breath-taking comeback wins, the actual statistics tell a different story: for the majority of games, the Broncos’ offense under Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow left defenses yawning. Manning must have seen the potential for dramatic improvement.

Kill the speculation: Peyton Manning and the Broncos are both serious about making Denver the next and final stop in Manning’s legendary career.

Manning will tour the Broncos’ facility in Dove Valley tonight and talk with team officials, including John Elway, who is set to arrive back in Denver this afternoon. Elway won two Super Bowls at 37 and 38 years old, and will likely pitch the 35-year-old Manning on his prospects for winning a ring in Denver.
